Snapshots

February 28th, 2011 No comments

I have this CW 10 class where we have this workshop period and it’s already time where we apply what we have discussed, collaborated and reported in class. Well, technically this isn’t a part of the workshop activity yet but I want to start here, the snapshots activity, where I took 3 different shots around the University using my camera phone and put some description about it.

Mastermind

Let there be light, please.

AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, logical operations. I love you, but I hate you for not being with me when I needed you the most.

After months of lectures, a dozen of experiments, hours of logical analysis, hours of implementation, money spent on resources, one project proposal, and minutes before the deadline, *poof* the LED lights shine upon our logical expectations. A working game built only with wires, logical gates, 7-segment light, a switch, batteries and a breadboard but still isn’t enough for me to pass the damn subject.

Wireless Router

*ring* *ring* DilNet support needed. My favorite pastime, to give basic troubleshooting around the University. <insert technical blabber here>, and it’s fixed, just like that.. Even though we’re already in the ‘technological age’, there are still a lot of people being left behind, especially around the University.

Maybe I’m a geek, but we never exist to fix your computers.

Acad Oval

Just look at the trees. Aren’t they beautiful?

*brake*->*click*->*go* With just a capital of seeds and time, random yet lovely, we have THIS. Just a breeze of not-so-cold-air hitting me in the middle of 12 noon sunlight makes everything worthwhile. Tall and very old trees closing in together to provide shade to joggers and people passing by.

Sudo apt-get update

September 28th, 2010 No comments

.. it means update package list. *just a metaphor for what i’m about to do.

It’s been a while since i’ve posted something personal here in my blog. But, here’s an update about me:

  • I’m enjoying my academic life, and my life as a student assistant in my school. Someone said to me that what I took in this semester is an overkill. YES! It’s really an overkill. I can’t anymore count how many sleepless nights I’m having until now to finish everything.
  • CS 131 (Numerical Methods) – I think one of the hardest Math subject i’ve encountered. Why? For the simplest reason that everything has to be solved numerically. You have to iterate then iterate then iterate up to a certain limit but in the end everything is just an approximation of the real answer. Don’t be mistaken about what i said, i don’t hate the subject, and the subject isn’t really not that hard (just a little bit of Arithmetic, a little bit of Trigonometry, a little bit of Calculus, and a little bit, ofcourse, of Numerical Method).. It’s just so cumbersome to solve again and again, and if you missed something in the beginning.. Everything will be screwed up.. It’s fun actually, especially now that I’m really learning a lot from my professor. Runge-Kutta.. Hamming Corrector-Predictor Method.. KaczMarz.. Choleski’s Method.. and a lot more of them. Sounds really out of this world, but really they are good algorithms that help us to solve a lot of problems. Just a note to people who will take this in the future, It’s a sin to forget Taylor Expansion Series :D

I’ll try again next time

April 16th, 2010 No comments

I was watching Slam Dunk anime, one of my favorites, when suddenly I felt a similarity between what is happening to me right now and the scene I was watching. So, i decided to write.

Here are some snapshots of my favorite scene:

Shohoku vs. Kainan

Sometimes, if people are in a very tight ballgame, you’ll gamble. But ofcourse, you’ll gamble with your best move. A move where you know you’ll be excelling in. A move wherein all the possibilities have already been considered. A move formulated with different strategies. A move that has already been tested working. A gamble with your best move.
