Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat is here!

October 10th, 2010 No comments

Of all the Linux Distribution available worldwide, Ubuntu is my favorite. :)

Why? Well here are some of the reasons why I love Ubuntu:

  • First of all, it’s free. No payment. As in, free!! Actually there are four freedoms:
    • Freedom 0: The freedom to run the program for any purpose.
    • Freedom 1: The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish.
    • Freedom 2: The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor.
    • Freedom 3: The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements (and modified versions in general) to the public, so that the whole community benefits.

Sudo apt-get update

September 28th, 2010 No comments

.. it means update package list. *just a metaphor for what i’m about to do.

It’s been a while since i’ve posted something personal here in my blog. But, here’s an update about me:

  • I’m enjoying my academic life, and my life as a student assistant in my school. Someone said to me that what I took in this semester is an overkill. YES! It’s really an overkill. I can’t anymore count how many sleepless nights I’m having until now to finish everything.
  • CS 131 (Numerical Methods) – I think one of the hardest Math subject i’ve encountered. Why? For the simplest reason that everything has to be solved numerically. You have to iterate then iterate then iterate up to a certain limit but in the end everything is just an approximation of the real answer. Don’t be mistaken about what i said, i don’t hate the subject, and the subject isn’t really not that hard (just a little bit of Arithmetic, a little bit of Trigonometry, a little bit of Calculus, and a little bit, ofcourse, of Numerical Method).. It’s just so cumbersome to solve again and again, and if you missed something in the beginning.. Everything will be screwed up.. It’s fun actually, especially now that I’m really learning a lot from my professor. Runge-Kutta.. Hamming Corrector-Predictor Method.. KaczMarz.. Choleski’s Method.. and a lot more of them. Sounds really out of this world, but really they are good algorithms that help us to solve a lot of problems. Just a note to people who will take this in the future, It’s a sin to forget Taylor Expansion Series :D

Inception 2010 Explained

August 12th, 2010 No comments

Inception is really a great movie. It’s really one hell of a mind fucking movie. Since, everybody is still confused and had question in their mind.. Here are some questions with answers/theories that could help you clear your mind :) Enjoy!

Christopher Nolan, you’re one hell of a writer/director. Thank you.

How did Mal get involved in all the dream invasion stuff to begin with?
A: It’s seems pretty clear from the context of the movie that Mal and Cobb were married and engaged in legitimate dream exploration together before Mal’s death. After her death, Cobb was forced to use his knowledge of dreams to become a thief.

How do the never-ending staircases work, and how was Arthur able to use one without Ariadne, as the architect, there to alter the architecture?

A: The never-ending staircases are paradoxes (logical fallacies that can’t exist in reality). Though Ariadne designed the levels and probably designed the staircase, in the level where Arthur uses it he’s the dreamer. Similar shortcuts were worked in, in advance, to the snow dream by Eams. Ariadne tells Cobb about them when they need a faster route to the fortress.
